Midleton FC Result: Win
Score: 1-2
Goalscorers: Abdul Backinson & Sam O Reilly
Report: Our second game saw us take the short trip to Carrigtwohill for the first east cork derby and it didn't disappoint. A cracking game with both sides giving it everything for 80 minnutes. The first had all the goals with Midleton taking the lead at the midway point through an unlikely source fullback Abdul Backinson, 2 more goals before the 35 minute mark saw Carrig draw level after a fine shot came back off the post across the goal for simple tap in from close range. Credit to the lads they rallied again and pushed to regain the lead before the break, this time it was Sam O Reilly who headed home from close range to make it 1-2 at the break. It could of been so much worse had it not been for Michal Joachim in the Midleton goal who pulled off a fantastic save from ex magpie Zach Casagrandes diving header early in the first half. We came out for the second half playing with the wind and we were well on top but just couldn't get the 3rd goal to kill off the home sides fight back and with a nervy final few minutes the ref blew up and we the 3 points and the bragging rights went to Midleton. Stand out players on the day Michal Joachim in goal and Pat Kane had great games but the man of the match was Sam O Reilly who on the score sheet and drove his team forward especially in the second period.
