Report: After a two month wait for a game we finally got 2018 going with a crucial 3-0 win away to Carrigtwohill Utd. On a very heavy pitch the game started slow but right from the off Ciarmhac Smyth, Ben O'Neill and Fawaz Bakinson had midfield under control and this game the forwards plenty of ball. After 20mins we finally put one of our chances away when Kamil Michalak ran on to a pass and rounded the keep for a classy finish. A few minutes later we made it 2-0 when James O'Sullivan had a great break down the left wing, laid it back to Kamil who hit the post but James was there to slot in the rebound. Its stayed 2-0 to the break but we were in full control. In the second half Carrigtwhohill lifted their game and put s under some pressure but a defence was excellent and kept them at bay. The midfield was continuing to dominate and Ben O'Neill showed a great mix of hard work and great vision to play some lovely passes into our strikers. It was a man of the match performance. Along with James and Kamil, Conan Hickey had an excellent game on the right and caused huge problems for the Carrig defence. With 15mins left in the game we got our third goal when our constant pressure led to another corner and when the ball came out to the 18 yard line, James curled a great shot into the top corner with the help of a small deflection. Overall, it was an extremely pleasing performance with some great soccer played, creating plenty of chances and keeping a clean sheet. A big thanks to Dave Clarke for managing the team for this game as I could only make the second half.
