Under 12A Division 2 2011/12 Match Reports

League at home to Tramore Athletic on Sunday 4th March
Midleton 1 Tramore Athletic 4

Very bad day for for U12A, we could not seem to find a rhythm in this match. The heads went down after tramore scored the first goal. The ball stayed in our half of the pitch most of the game 3 nil in first half. We subbed 3 players at once in a desperate attempt to recover the goal difference. We got into the penalty area once and was awarded a penalty for a blatant foul. The only grace was Dylan Healy's perfect shot into bottom left corner of goal making the final score 4-1 to Tramore.

League away to Buttervant on Saturday 4th February
Buttervant 3 Midleton 2

I can only start by saying that this was an exciting game from start to finish. We played end to end football, and then finally Buttervant beat the defence with speed, scoring from close range. We battled through the bog wet ground collecting mud like lead weights around our feet! It seemed like a long first half. Our midfield pressed until Dylan Healy got a fast break taking on 2 defenders weaving his way past the keeper and tapping home a well-earned goal. Buttervant would not stay away! The same attack there winger beating Morgan Lee
and Kieran O'Sullivan, goal 2 for Buttervant. So 2-1 at half time.

We made 2 changes for the start of second half, attack after attack we couldn't find the finish. Catching us off guard Buttervant hit a ball for outside the box soaring high goalkeeper Taran Troy tipped the ball at full stretch but it wasn't enough. 3-1 down! Then Christian Murphy put the on the power up toward right hand side of box but he was taken clean off his feet! We had a free kick given. The kick was instantly handed to Darragh Moran who sent a thundering shot over the defence wall, Evan Rowlands getting the final touch with a nod of the head making it 3-2. We kept the pressure on but the final score ending 3-2.

Local Cup at home to Douglas Hall A on Sunday 22nd January
Midleton 4 Douglas Hall A 1

The sun was shining in Knockgriffin today in more ways than one. The 12A looked good from the whistle, gaining posession after losing the toss.
Looking like scoring at any moment, 15 minutes into first half Dylan Healy beating 4 defenders placed a tidy shot into bottom right corner of net. Then disaster when we were caught napping Douglas had 3 attempts at keeper Darragh Cashman 3rd attempt rolls into net. 1-1. We re-grouped very sharply and attacked again 5 minutes before half time. Sean O'Sullivan, Daragh Moran, Evan Rowlands, Dylan Healy and Gary Carroll geling in midfield sending Ciaran Murphy into back 4 again, Ciaran confidentally striking ball to left of keeper. 2-1 at halftime.

We seemed to dominate second half, the pressure getting to the Douglas defence, a free kick 10 yards outside left of box Darragh Moran powers the ball high into right of goal the keeper could only tip the ball without success we now had a 2 goal lead. 3-1 up we kept the pressure on, Evan Rowlands fouled in nearly the identical place of first free kick. De ja vu! Darragh hits the same shot from free, keeper didn't see this one, Final score 4-1. Well done Lads.

League away to Castleview on Saturday 26th November
Castleview 1 Midleton 5

Midleton 12A played away to Castleview with only one thought in there minds, A Win! with a positive attitude they played a careful start but the nerves set off a bad start, hand ball giving Castleview a penalty in the first few minutes,1-0 to Castleview, Midleton responded punching shots at goal but unable to hit the target.

1-0 down at half time a good team talk changed the sunken heads in second half, attacking every chance! Top right corner Dylan Healy setting the trend makes it 1-1, again we hit hard 3 in a row by Cian Murphy delited with his, hat trick swings a long ball onto left wing for Ellis Rowlands clipped by sean O'Sullivan back again to Ellis who hits defender and on deflection hammers ball home making the final score 5-1.
The defence stayed solid and the midfield made it hard work for Castleview to get near.

League at home to Kanturk on Sunday 13th November
Midleton 3 Kanturk 3

Midleton 12A stopped the rot this week with a gallant 3-3 draw against Kanturk. The midfield played a big part in this match Evan Rowlands, Sean O'Sullivan, pushing Darragh Moran into site of goal. Falling in front of keeper he managed to scramble a toe to the ball over the keeper putting us back in game making it one a piece. Then Kanturk came back making it 2-1 o,n which we replied with a well timed run from Dylan Healy beating keeper with a well placed goal near right post, now 2-2. Then Ellis Rowlands came from L/mid beating 2 defenders powering ball into right corner of net. 3-2 to us and then Kanturk hit us again 3-3.

Midleton attempted some great shots with a 4th goal header missed by the ref and unrewarded.
It was said '120 percent' played by Midleton today.
