Junior's 2012/13 Match Reports
League away to Rockmount on Sunday 24th February 2013
Rockmount 1-2 Midleton
Great away win for the juniors today with a result that keeps them in touch for the title race, after going a goal down against the run of play in the first Midleton kept the pressure on and got there award with a equaliser before half time through a great finish from Micky Ryan.ht 1-1
Second behalf began like the first half ended with the magpies making the better chances and were awarded a penalty for there efforts after Micky Ryan was upended in the box, Derek Deehan made no mistake after stepping up to the mark. Midleton should have put the game to bed with some excellent chances arriving but the third goal never arose, which lead to a lot of pressure from the home side but Midleton’s rock solid back four if Ma Hickey Mark Duggan John Mallon Cillian Hurley kept Rockmount at bay. It was a really great win for the lads today a lot of injuries in the squad, so major effort involved...well done lads.
League at home to UCC on Sunday 16th December 2012
Midleton 2-1 UCC
Midleton junior team played their last match of the year and finished with another three points before Christmas to a delighted manager Ian Kirby and assistant Adrian Ryan. Micky Ryan opened the scoring for Midleton and Johnny Barrett scored the all important with winner with 5min to go. A great result after playing the last 15min with 10men. It was a tough game in soft conditions. Another great team effort.
League at home to Glasheen on Sunday 7th October 2012
Midleton 3 Glasheen 0
Midleton went into this game knowing 3pts was a must from our home fixtures this year, with the top teams dropping points this weekend it was even more of a incentive to grab the win. Magpies took this game to Glasheen from the off and went a goal up when Damien Daly supplied Micky Ryan with sublime through ball and the striker made no mistake in finishing low to back of the net. Midleton kept the pressure on and doubled their lead on 25min with Damien Daly this time ramming home the second. Midleton where now playing with confidence through good displays from Mark Duggan, Derek Deehan, Kevin Tattan, but it was robust midfielder Duncan McCarthy that got the goal of the a superb passing move from Midleton saw Damien wide left whip a superb cross in to the danger area and it was the on rushing McCarthy headed low past the keeper. Micky Ryan should have added the fourth just before halftime, but chipped wide.ht 3-0
Second half didn't live up to the same intensity as the first were Midleton where comfortable in possession for long periods, Midleton should have added to their lead but some good saves from Glasheen keeper and some near misses from magpies it didn't materialise. Good home win for that puts is back in the chasing pack.
