MAYFIELD 0-3 Midleton

Goalscorers: Jake Hegarty, Tijani Aibor x2

Excellent away three points today in Mayfield, in truth the 1st half was sticky in general but Midleton had a number of excellent passages but the final ball eluded them, Adam Wilson went close from a strike from 30 yards just missing the top corner after 15min. Mayfield had a audacious effort too but stopper Andy O Donoghue had it covered palming it off the bar. Chances were slim, as both defences were organised, with Gary Collins and Kieran Mulcahy dominating in the middle for Midleton, but it was Jake Hegarty who made the difference really coming into the game for last 15 min of 1st half and scored and unstoppable strike into the top corner 3 min before the interval at the 2nd time of asking.

Some motivational words at half time could be heard with the Magpies Management demanding more from their side, and Midleton shot out of the blocks in the 2nd half and grabbed a 2nd through a Adam Wilson cross who gave Mayfield full back a torrid time in the 2nd half to deliver a sublime ball for Tijani Aibor to slam home from 6 yards. Wilson again came close himself shortly after with a great strike.
Once again Captain on the day Ian Maher controlled matters from the middle and gave a solid base for his attacking players to do there thing, but he also tried to get in on d action with a close effort from 25yrds curling wide, likewise his midfield partner the ginger Kante James Leahy also came close from a strike from outside the box, Ray Lally was introduced on 60min to the scene and really got the ball moving even more and put Wilson through once more and again Aibor was there to finish well to back of the net to give midleton a comfortable 3 goal lead.
Mayfield had a goal correctly disallowed from a interfering offside player on 80 min. Route one became evident with the introduction of experienced Robert Brosnan for Mayfield but again the Midleton back four, of Mc Carthy , Collins , Mulcahy and Healy stood up to the test. And saw out the game with ease to give a massive 3 points and send Midleton to the summit of the table.

Congratulations to young Robbie Kinane who made his senior debut today at 17 and all his hard work paid off over the last number of weeks to fit in well on his introduction, well done Robbie keep up the good work.

Next up again is Mayfield once more in the beamish cup away next sat at 2pm.
