A successful return to football after 6 months, for the first league game of the season. There was a lot of rustiness in the Midleton play in an even first half. Fintan Coady continued his goal scoring streak with a smart strike from a free kick after 3 minutes. Innishvilla, who were promoted this season, deservedly equalised two minutes before the break.
Midleton were far better in the second half, but struggled to find a finish to their build-up play. The winner came in the 82nd minute, with a Dylan O’Halloran header from Michael Twomey’s excellent free-kick. The hosts had a free at the end, but thanks to a block by Fawaz, the chance was missed. A welcome return to football.
