Report: Midleton have qualified as one of the 7 Cork teams left in the final 64 of the FAI Junior Cup after this great result. Doolans Cow were an unknown entity before this, but they have been the dominant team in the Cork Business League. Midleton started very brightly and had the hosts chasing us as we passed the ball well asking questions of Doolans defence. Doolans found their way into the game after about 10 mins and showed he good a side they are with their decent passing game, they also had some individual quality players on show, after 25mins Midleton were forced to adapt formation to stop the rise of Doolans, the change worked as Midleton again started getting on top again, and should have taken the lead after Leon Geary found himself through and beat the keeper but the ball came back off the post. The game swung back in Doolans favour after a cynical push in the back of Kieran Mulcahy ended with the defender crashing into the metal fence and dislocating his shoulder. Midleton were scrappy during final 10 mins of half. Second half was again very even but Doolans managed to take the lead through an unfortunate og on 63 mins. Midleton made a few substitutions and were forced to change the attacking formation to get back in the game, this left gaps at the back and Doolans exploited it with a 2nd goal on 79mins. Midleton responded instantly after a good move was tapped in by Micky Ryan. Midleton were dominating the game now and chances were falling to Midleton but couldn't find a finish, until the 88th minute when fullback Lochlann McCarthy found himself free from 25 yards out and struck a great strike to give the Doolans keeper no chance. Midleton could have sneaked it before full time as we gave up two great chances. Extra time was a great game as both teams went for the win and both were guilty of missing good chances. Game went to penalties and after 9 penalties each, Midleton came away with victory with a save from Liam Cotter and a final kick from Emil Pekala
