Under 12 Girls 2012/13 Match Reports

League at home to Springfield Ramblers on Friday 3rd May 2013
Midleton 1 Springfield Ramblers 1

Last game of the season and a chance to again get everyone into the game and try some new positions. It proved a very worthwhile game as both teams experimented with their teams and a draw in the end was fair to both teams.

The game began well for us and some nice football was played. Doireann and Elena were looking rock solid playing at the back and Catherine was also enjoying the freedom of her midfield position supported by Sinead who did very well. Emma started up front and did very well against a strong defence.
The best of our moves came from the left wing were Lauren excelled at left back and worked very well with Shannon and Catherine to create our best chances. Unfortunately when Springfield did finally break through our defence they managed to score with their first scoring chance against Viennne who started her first game in a while. We continued to create chances down the left in particular and another good move involving Lauren, Shannon and Catherine ended with a good pass to Sadhbh who sent the ball to the net for her first goal. It was nothing more then the girls deserved.

Half time and time to bring on the rest of the girls. Niamh, Ashling Harty and Ashling Murphy came in at the back with Ellen coming into the midfield and Lucy up front. We continued to create chances but so to did Springfield. Vivienne did very well in goals and Shauna came on to play in the unusual position of centre back in front of her. Ashling Harty then moved forward in place of Shannon. The best chance fell to Ellen with only minutes left and she hit it almost perfect as it flew past the post only just the wrong side. Player of the match went to Emma for a very solid first half. All over and all returned to the clubhouse for a bit of a party. Roll on next season and we look forward to a lot of new girls playing U12.Remember if anyone would like to join us they are mor then welcome.

Team - Vivienne Gleeson, Doireann Conway, Ellena Kelleher, Lauren Linehan, Shannon Cremin, Catherine Walsh, Sinead O'Connell, Sadhbh Beausang(Captain), Emma O'Sullivan, Lucy Horgan, Ellen Harty, Ashling Harty, Shauna Horgan, Ashling Murphy, Niamh Molloy.
And Andrea Cuthbert who joined us on the night in her crutches. Great to see her and we hope she will be running around with the rest in late August.

Local Cup away to Springfield Ramblers on Thursday 25th April 2013
Springfield Ramblers 3 Midleton 2

What a night, it had everything this game. The game kicked a little late but the girls just couldn t wait to get started. We had the better of the opening half and with some luck could have taken the lead when Laauren and Lucy had shots blocked on the line. Then slightly against the run of play Ramblers took the lead and held that lead to the break.

Second half and every single girl from Shauna in goals to Catherine, Niamh, Doireann(Capt )in defence and Lauren, Ashling, Shannon and Elena in middle to Lucy up front were determined to give it their best effort. But early in the half we found ourselves two down and this was when the girls really showed their stuff. Some great work down the left wing between Niamh and Shannon and onto Lauren who beat her marker and crossed to the box. The ball broke to the edge of the area but who was coming but Elena and she smashed it to the back of the net. This gave the girls a big left and they pushed harder for the equaliser and with only 10 minutes left on the clock a lovely move down the left again saw Lauren and Shannon combine to beat their defence and the cross was meet by Ashling who finished it first time to the delight of all her team and supporters. Then in a cruel twist Ramblers scored from a tight angle but still our girl were not for dying they got together again and hunted for the next goal. Lauren then had a free kick on the left which she struck perfectly only to see it come back off the crossbar. More efforts followed but with no success so it is Ramblers who progressed to next Tuesdays final in Turners Cross and we wish them well.

Great credit to our wonderful bunch of girls who trilled us all on the night and our best wishes to Ashling Murphy,Sadhbh and Andy for speedy recovery from their injuries.

Team - Shauna Horgan, Vivienne Gleeson, Ellen Haty, Niamh Molloy, Catherine Walsh,

Local Cup away to Kinsale on Tuesday 9th April 2013
Kinsale 0 Midleton 1
We made the long trip to Kinsale for this evening kick off and it was great to see so many girls turn up and just a pity we could not give everyone a game on the night as it was nail biting stuff and a real cup classic. The first half started with us playing against a slight wind and Kinsale tried hard to make it count. Our defence of Aisling Murphy , Catherine and rock solid Captain Niamh gave nothing away and Shauna only had to pick up the pieces around her area. Midfield worked very hard and the ground covered by Aishling Harty, Shannon, Elena and Sadhbh was simply immense. Chances were hard to come by in the first half but we almost broke the deadlock on a couple of occasions from corners.

This was all to change in the second half and chances came at both ends. Lauren had the first of them which she dragged her shot across the goals but then they had a chance from distance which sailed over Shauna and lady luck shone on us as it clipped the outside of the post and went wide. As we put more pressure on them they counter attacked and it made for a very open game.Sadhbh combined very well down the left wing and also Lauren took up very good positons to take the passes from her midfielders. Then in the last 15 minutes chances came one after the other. First for Shannon going just wide on the left followed by the crucial goal scored when Shannon won their kick out and found Lauren who finished to the back of the net,to the great delight of all her team mates and all the parents present. But Kinsale were not giving up, they pushed for an equaliser and again found their best effort come back off the crossbar and was cleared away by our sharp defence. Further chances fell to Shannon who was so unlucky striking just wide and then when she found the target their keeper was equal to the task. Shauna and Catherine had superb performances at the back and Elena covered every blade of grass on the field in her efforts for her team.

These girls may not be the tallest team in the world but they showed huge heart tonight to get the result and all 14 of them celebrated at the end as they now look forward to a cup semi final next Tuesday(16th).

Team - Shauna Horgan, Niamh Molloy(Capt), Caherine Walsh, Aisling Murphy, Aisling Harty, Shannon Cremin, Elena Kelleher, Sadhbh Beausang, Lauren Linehan, Lucy Horgan, Ellen Harty, Emma O Sullivan,
Doireann Conway, Vivienne Gleeson.

League at home to Riverstown on Monday 1st April 2013
Midleton 2 Riverstown 2

Tonight we started without Andy Cuthbert and our best wishes go to her for a speedy recovery from her recent accident. We look forward to seeing her smiling face back at training for the new season. Another great game for the girls. Playing against a Riverstown team who were phsyically much stronger the girls played very well passing the ball around the field very well. The first chance was created with a pass in behind the defence which Lauren ran onto and forced a good save from the Riverstown keeper. Riverstown did try themselves to play ball but Catherine, Aisling Murphy and Niamh managed to deal with everything they had in the first half. Then another quick pass by Shannon in behind the defence saw Lauren run clear and this time gave their keeper no chance. Another couple of chances did fall our way and Elena nearly scored from a corner but it finished 1-0 at the break.

Second half and we were playing into a strong wind on this cold night. Doireann and Sadhbh came on before the break for Aisling and Lucy who did very well and did their bit to help Shannon break away from the defence and cool as you like place the ball past the on rushing keeper. Riverstown never stopped trying to their credit and it took hard work in the middle from Elena and Aisling Harty to break down their attacks. Emma and Ellen also came on up front to play their part on the night and did very well. Then the shot that changed the game, from what must have been 25 yards the Riverstown midfielder hit a rocket which flu pass Shauna in our goals. this goal gave them renewed heart and they piled on the presure for an equaliser. Aisling Harty had a chance to make it 3-1 but her shot went just the wrong side of the post. Then with only 7 minutes left on the clock they broke past our defence and scored their equaliser. It was a fight to the end then and we did have a long range shot from Lauren which their keeper saved well but in the end it finished 2-2. Last league game will be at home to Cobh before the end of the month. Evening Echo cup quarter final away to Kinsale is next up.
Player of the Match Niamh Molloy.

League away to Lakewood Athletic on Saturday 23rd March 2013
Lakewood Athletic 5 Midleton 1

We all wished today was better but in the end the girls went out and did their best and they can do no more. The conditions didn't allow for our usual free flowing football but the girls continued to try and play the best they could. Only having 10 girls available to play on the day was another factor and the pitch was very heavy and the girls tired in the final stages of the game. The game was only minutes old when a shoot from a tight angle found its way past Shauna in goals. We responded well and made a number of good attacks which unfortunately were all meet by a very impressive performance by their keeper. Then a few minutes before the break a very good strike from distance was too good for Shauna to stop.

The second half started with the wind now in our favour and we had every hope of getting back in the game but it was Lakewood who struck first again. Shannon and Elena continued to work hard in midfield and Lauren and Lucy did their best up and down both wings. Sabhdh,  Aisling and Niamh worked very well with Saoirse and Emma doing their best up front. Two further long range shots found their way past Shauna in goals but in the end we finally found the back of the net when Elena hit a perfect shoot to the corner of the net and it was no more then she and her team deserved for all their hard work. For that and her never say die attitude she well deserved the player of the match.

Team - Shauna Horgan, Niamh Molloy, Sadhbh Beausang,Aisling Murphy, Lucy Horgan, Elena Kelleher, Shannon Cremin, Lauren Linehan, Emma O Sullivan, Saoirse Geary.

Local Cup away to Lakewood Athletic on Saturday 9th March 2013
Lakewood Athletic 1 Midleton 0

What a game is all you could say about this match.A cup game from beginning to end that had our hearts in our mouths. Playing against Lakewood who have always been a real test for us, we began in complete control and attack after attack down the left and the right wings. Andrea(Capt) lead by example at the back and let nothing past her as did Catherine and Sadhbh. Shauna cleared some lovely long balls when called on to do so.Good play between Shannon and Lauren lead to a chance for Shannon from a tight angle which their keeper covered well.Minutes later Lucy combined with Sannon to create another chance which went over off the crossbar. Then after only about 10 minutes a great break through the middle involving Elena who was excellent all day and Aisling saw Shannon fouled in the box and the ref gave the penalty. Up stepped Lauren to take a cracking penalty and somehow their keeper managed not just to get her hand to it but to tip the shoot over the bar.A great save and it must be said she was on top form all day. We continued to press their goals and another shoot from Lauren was again saved. When they did get at us Catherine was organising her defence very well and getting herself infront to block any efforts they had.Half time and still unbelievably 0-0.

Second half and time for fresh legs. On came Emma, Doireann and Ellen at different stages to join Niamh who came on before the break. This half was much closer and they came more into the game as the heavy ground took its toal on our girls energy. Lakewood had a couple of chances but nothing clear cut and then from one of many corners they had in the second half a harmless shoot was deflected on its way to goal and Shauna had no chance. This was had to take but as ever the girls were not going down without a fight and this they did. They dug in and with all they energy they attacked the Lakewood defence, creating a few more chances the best being a shoot from Lauren which flew just over the crossbar. As somebody said during the week "the better team lost". We look forward to playing Lakewood again in 2 weeks time in the league and to the Evening Echo Cup next month. No Player of The Match as everbody deserved it today.

Team - Andrea Cuthbert(Captain), Emma O'Sullivan, Ellen Harty, Shannon Cremin, Shauna Horgan,
Lauren Linehan, Aisling Harty, Elena Kelleher, Vivienne Gleeson, Lucy Horgan, Catherine Walsh,

League away to Carrigaline on Saturday 23rd February 2013
Carriagaline 4 Midleton 0

Again this year the U12 girls have qaulified for the Premier division of the league. Great credit to them for being in the top 5 teams in the county. Today we faced the might of Carrigaline who have beaten all before them this year but with a smaller squad then normal we set about upsetting the odds. We started very steady and we every bit as good as the oppostion. At times we played the better football and were unlucky not to take the lead when Aisling Harty's shot hit of the post and across the goal line. Lucy was playing very well up front laying off the ball well to the oncoming midfielders. At the back Andrea, Catherine and Aisling Murphy were rock solid and gave great protection to Vivienne in goals. It was very hard work for Shannon, Lauren, Aisling and Elena in midfield to get up and down the field but they did very well untill just before the break when Carrigaline got their first real shot of the game which went high into the net. This was followed within minutes by the second which was a great finish from a quick cross and Vivienne had no chance of stoping.

The girls re-grouped at half time and Saoirse came on for Lucy up front. Again chances were created at both sides but unfortunately they just wouldn't go in for us. Shots by Lauren and Shannon just failing to get us on the score-sheet. All the girls continued to work hard even as they tired and the fresh legs of Rebecca and Ellen helped. Vivienne also made a very good save before the end. In the end Carrigaline just did better with their chances then us and the score on another day could have been much different. Final score 4-0. Player of the match was well deserved by Andrea for her tireless work at right back from start to finish.Onwards to the next match, the cup quarter final away to Lakewood in 2 weeks time.

Team - Vivienne Gleeson, Andrea Cuthbert, Catherine Walsh, Aisling Murphy, Lauren Linehan,
Shannon Cremin, Elena Kelleher, Aisling Harty, Lucy Horgan, Saoirse Geary, Ellen Harty, Rebecca Manning.

Challenge at home to Wilton United on Saturday 9th February 2013
Midleton 2 Wilton United
Great to get another game in before the Premier league starts for us away to favourites Carrigaline on 23rd Feb. Nice for everyone to get a bit more game time and can only help everyone in the long term. Elena got the game off to a fine start with her second goal of the season  but the lead was short lived as Wilton came back and equalised very quickly. We played with most girls playing positions they usually don't so we could see if  these new positions might suit them. Vivienne started in goals and had a great day between the posts.Sadhbh at centre back did very well as did Doireann and Andrea in the full back positions.Catherine enjoyed her day in the middle and was unlucky on a few occasions not to get her first goal. I'm sure it can t be far way now.Aisling also in the middle enjoyed her role and took her chance  to give us the lead but again Wilton came back to equalise before the break.

Half time meant more changes, Shannon joined the first half subs of Sinead, Ellen, Emma and Saoirse. All did very well in their new roles which was great to see. In the end with so many playing out of position Wilton caught us on the break and with a quick corner to take the win. Rebecca had done very well up front and passed the ball very well and with Shauna playing midfield and Lucy at centre back it gave everyone something to think about.

Team - Vivienne Gleeson, Andre Cuthbert(Capt), Sidhbh Beausang, Doireann Conway, Lauren Linehan, Aisling Harty, Catherine Walsh, Rebecca Manning, Emma O'Sullivan, Shauna Horgan, Lucy Horgan, Shannon Cremin, Elena Kelleher, Ellen Harty, Saorise Geary, Sinead O'Connell.
Player of the Match - Vivienne Gleeson.

League at home to Riverstown on Saturday 12th January 2013
Midleton 1 Riverstown 2

Back in action after 6 weeks rest between our rest weekend and the Christmas break. A tough game to return to but a very good game to get back to competitive action.
Riverstown whom have had a very good season so far were always going to test us and from the start they dominated the game and Lucy, Catherine and Ashling Murphy had to be at their very best and Shauna saw a lot more action then she had seen in the first half of the season. Riverstown were showing all the moves early on and could have scored but for very good defending by our girls. We did trouble them on the break when we moved the ball very quickly from defence to midfield to attack and this created our best chances. It took lots of hard work from Ashling Harty, Shannon, Elena and Sabhdh (who had probably her best game this season) to get up and down the field which was very heavy after the overnight rain. Riverstown who were a little stronger then us did make the breakthrough just 5 minutes before the break when the ball broke at the eidge of our area and they were first to react and hammer the ball to the roof of the net. And then just as we approached half time a corner on the left hit the post and rebounded to the in rushing Riverstown striker to finnish under the diving Shauna.

Great credit to our girls as they started the second half with renewed belief in themselves and they really went for it. Attacks were now going in both directions and chances very coming for both thems. Then a great move involving Elena winning the ball in midfield, passing to Shannon and onto Sabhdh who's great run and shot was saved by their keeper and the follow up from Shannon hit the cross bar which then fell to Lauren who finally sent the ball to the net. It was no more then we deserved and the girls kept tring for the equaliser as Ashling Harty played some lovely one, twos with Lauren to beat their defence only to find their keeper a match for everything they hit at her. At the back we had to be very tight and Niamh, Catherine, Ashling and indeed Shauna were more then a match for them. In the end we could not make that second goal and lost for the first time this season. Player of the match went Shauna and we look forward to the cup quarter final at home to Lakewood in 2 weeks time.

Team - Lucy Horgan, Emma O'Sullivan, Niamh Molloy, Shannon Cremin, Shauna Horgan, Lauren Linehan, Ashling Harty, Ashling Murphy, Doireann Conway, Andrea Cuthbert, Elena Kelleher, Catherine Walsh(Capt), Ellen Harty, Sabhdh Beausang.

League at home to St Marys on 24th November2012
Midleton 1 St Marys 0

A cold Saturday in November and the visitors were St Marys who we struggled against any time we meet last season. This time we dominated the game but found it difficult to score. Just goes to show you have to work hard for everything you get from this game.
From the kick off it was into attack and some very good passing lead to several half chances but Marys kept it very tight at the back and had a superb performance from their goalkeeper. Chances fell to Lauren and also to Shannon and Aisling Harty but none were clear cut and this was credit to Marys who were very well organised at the back. Niamh, Catherine and Aisling Murphy had little to do but stayed attentive and dealt with anything that came their was.Half time and all square was no reflection on the position we enjoyed but position does not win games.

Time for some hot chocolate and back at it again. Sadhbh and Aisling made way for Rebecca and Lucy after a good first and Andrea and Vivienne came on for Niamh and Shauna. More changes followed and credit to the girls they continued to take the game to St. Marys. Doireann, Emma,Ellen and Sinead came on and about midway through the half the score we all wanted finally arrived and who was it but Lauren who made it a successful day as Captain. Elena who moved to centre back and did very well gave Catherine her chance in midfield and she loved it so much she almost went on to score. I m sure her first goal cannot be far away. More very impressive goalkeeping continued to keep the score at one nil and the game finished with another win for the girls who were voted Sports Stars of the Month this week. Player of the match for her overall performance went to Catherine, her second in a row after taking the award with the U14s last week.

Team - Emma O'Sullivan, Andrea Cuthbert, Doireann Conway, Aisling Murphy, Niamh Molloy, Catherine Walsh, Elena Kelleher, Ellen Harty Sinead O'Connell, Shannon Cremin, Lauren Linehan(Capt.), Lucy Horgan,
Shauna Horgan, Aisling Harty, Vivienne Gleeson, Sadhbh Beausang.

Local Cup away to Wilton United on 10th November2012
Wilton United 1 Midleton 2
First round of the cup and we couldn t have got a harder test as we travelled to play Wilton a team we had failed to beat on any occasion last season. Of coarse a new season brings new players and we have plenty this year who have helped us to our 100% start to the season.
We started strong and Lauren seemed to be enjoying the lone striker role. A strong midfield of Aisling Harty, Shannon , Elena and Sidhbh meant we created a good few half chances which their keeper did well to deal with, after about 15minutes Lauren broke the deadlock with the aid of a slight deflection off one of the Wilton girls. We continued to press against Wilton who for their part tried to play everything out from the back and it was a joy to watch them play so much good football. They only created a couple of good chances due mainly to the fantastic work of Catherine,Niamh and Aisling Murphy at the back who were all on top of their game. The only chance that they found the target with was well saved by Shauna in goals. Only minutes before half time Lauren extended our lead with one of her special long distance shots to the roof of the net. No more then she deserved as she had come so close on a few occasions before that.Half time 2-0 and all going well.

Second half started as the first finished and both teams giving their all as play moved up and down the field. Then mid-way into the half a good break from Wilton saw them get their striker in behind our defence and a very well struck shot beat Shauna in the goals to make it 2-1. Last year this may have caused some doubt in the girls minds but this year they just dug in deeper and worked even harder to win the game. Aisling Murphy Catherine and Niamh lead by example and gave everything to stop Wilton getting any further chances and our midfield now including Rebecca continued to play good football to get up and support Lauren in attack. Overall when the final whistle came it was no more then the girls deserved to come away with a great 2-1 win and progress to the next round of the cup. It will be a very difficult competition if this match was anything to go by. Player of the match went to Lauren for two great strikes and a very strong performance.

Team: Vivienne Gleeson, Doireann Conway, Andrea Cuthbert, Emma O Sullivan, Lucy Horgan, Rebecca Manning, Ellen Harty, Sinead O Connell, Shauna Horgan, Niamh Molloy, Catherine Walsh, Aisling Murphy, Sidhbh Beausang, Shannon Cremin, Elena Kelleher(Capt.), Aisling Harty, Lauren Linehan.

League at home to Ballinhassig on 27th October 2012
Midleton 5 Ballinhassig 1

Leaue match number 4 and the girls kept up their 100% start to the season with another solid performance against our visitors Ballinhassig.
Playing on a lovely sunny October day the girls got into their stride very quickly and moved the ball around very well. Andrea along side Catherine and Aisling proved to be as dependable as ever at the back and dealt well with everything that Ballinhassig created early on. Then the first goal arrived when a lovely move down the right wing involving Sidhbh and Elena ended with a simple pass to Shannon who in turn found Lauren on her own at the edge of the area. The first time finish was one we all enjoyed as the ball headed straight into the top right hand corner giving their keeper no chance. All the parents enjoyed watching it and the girls deserved all the good comments being made by their parents and friends. Fair play to Ballinhassig they stuck to their guns and only five minutes later they were rewarded with a great equaliser.

Our girls got back to business very quickly and from the kick off they recaptured their 1 goal advantage with another goal from Lauren. Just before half time and excellent play in the middle from Lucy and Sidhbh and then Shannon came through the middle to score her a lovely goal, her 6th goal U12 this season. Soon after a nice move down the left saw a pass from Lauren to Shannon who beat the defender on the end line and passed across the goal for Elena to have the easiest of finishes to grab her first goal for the club.Half time and 4-1 was a job well done.
Emma, Niamh, Rebecca and Sinead came on and helped continue the good work as the girls continued to create plenty of chances in the second half. The post was hit and plenty of near misses before a poor unfortunate Ballinhassig defender deflected the ball into her own net for goal number 5. Thats how it finished and it is now onto Wilton for the fist round of the cup in 2 weeks time. That away match will be a good test for have far we have come this year.
Player of the match went to Elena, well done and keep up the good work.

Team:Elena Kelleher, Niamh Molloy, Andrea Cuthbert, Emma O Sullivan, Shauna Horgan, Sidhbh Beausang, Lucy Horgan, Shannon Cremin(Capt.), Aisling Murphy, Catherine Walsh, Lauren Linehan, Sinead O Connell, Rebecca Manning.

League away to Douglas Hall on Saturday 13th October 2012
Douglas Hall 1 Midleton 5

The U12 Girls continued their good start to the season with another away win, this time against Douglas Hall. It was great to see so many girls available on the day and 15 of the 17 squad players were able to play. We started very strong and went into attack very quickly. Defence of Aisling Murphy,Catherine and Andrea dealt with everything and gave good passes to their midfield leaving Shauna very little to do in the game. Elena making her debut for us had a very impressive performance in midfield along side Aisling Harty, Lauren and Shannon.

The break through came after only 5 minutes when some good work in midfield and Rebecca up front set up Lauren to score with an excellant shot.Further goals followed over the next 15 minutes from Shannon and then Lauren from a well worked corner kick and two further goals from Shannon to complete her hat trick. We brought on Niamh and she had a great game at right back. Emma also came on up front followed by Lucy, Ellen and Doireann in midfield and Vivienne took her place in the team as goalkeeper. The game was much closer in the second half but the girls played some lovely passing football which was great to see.

Douglas finally got some reward for their efforts about 5 minutes from time and almost had a second after they were awarded a penalty for hand ball just before the end. But fair play to Vivienne in goals she stood tall and the penalty was struck over the bar. Final score was 5-1 and that makes it full points from our three games. Next up is Ballinhassig on Saturday 27th at home. Player of the match went to hat trick hero Sahnnon, who will Captain us next time out.

Team:Emma O Sullivan, Doireann Conway, Andrea Cuthbert, Niamh Molloy, Catherine Walsh, Shannon Cremin, Elena Kelleher, Aisling Murphy, Lauren Linehan, Ellen Harty, Lucy Horgan, Shauna Horgan, Aisling Harty, Vivienne Gleeson, Rebbecca Manning.

League away to Blarney on Saturday 15th Septmebr 2012
Blarney 1 Midleton 2

This was always going to be a difficult opening game as a number of players were playing for the first time and a few girls were unavailable. The game started well for us and Shannon, Sidhbh and Aishling Harty controlled the midfield making several scoring chances. Captain for the day was Ellen and she lead from the front with a very determined display. Andrea playing her first game for us worked very hard and did very well. On the few occasions that Blarney broke on the counter attack they never managed to get past the strong defensive line of Lucy, Catherine and Aishling Murphy. With Shauna's help they were very well organised and never looked like being broken down in the first half. The half ended scoreless and Rebecca and Doireann also came on to play their first game at this level and can be very pleased with their performances.

We started the second half knowing the chances would come our was if we continued to work as we did in the first half. Sure enough after 10 minutes the chance fell to Shannon and she cooly sloted the ball pass the Blarney keeper after she had broken clear of the Blarney defense to score a great solo goal.Emma also came on for her first game and played a key role in the second goal 5 minutes later. The move started with Aishling Murphy breaking down a Blarney attack as she did numerous times during the game. Aishling gave a neat pass down the wing to Aishling Harty, who in turn continued down the wing before crossing to the centre where Emma controlled the ball and rolled it into Shannon's path and she tucked it away for her second of the day.A lovely move which was a pleasure to watch. After this we began to tire a bit and our defense came to our rescrue a number of times with Catherine being particularly effective in stopping anything the came down the middle and Lucy and Aishling dealing with attacks on the wings, Shauna picked up everthing that came over the top and was very vocal in keeping the defense on its toes. She needed to be very alert to come off her line and save bravely at the feet of a Blarney striker minutes later. With just minutes remaining an error gave Blarney their only real chance of the game and they took it well.

Player of the Match: Aishling Murphy
Team: Emma O Sullivan, Shannon Cremin, Aishling Murphy, Ellen Harty(Capt.), Aishling Harty,
Catherine Walsh, Lucy Horgan, Rebecca Manning, Doireann Conway, Sidhbh Beausang,
