Under 12 2014/15 Division 1 Match Reports

National Cup at Bessbro V Avondale United on Sunday 18th October 2014
Avondale United 2 Midleton 3
Midleton’s 12’s away Match to Avondale was slow getting going, A full 17 Squad in attendance. Side winds keeping ball drifting to left as we attacked goal. Tomas Lambe was making great runs on left flank, turning on the pace but being shut down by the Avondale defence, we seemed sluggish and lost possession about 10 minutes in.
Needless to say we got caught with a lob over the defence leaving Josh stationary.
1-0 to Avondale we battled slowly forward and were rewarded after a poor deflection from Avondale defence Chris O’Connor hitting the second shot into top right corner.
1-1and Midleton seemed a bit more assertive creating more chances and finally getting another run before halftime, Evan Kelly was working hard on the right wing finding Chris with a challenged cross, who puts the ball
Firmly into back of the net. 2-1 to us at halftime .

A choice of 6 subs , but we kept the 11 Lads into second half , Not making the best start we began changes, the first was Shay for Niall and then a battle in our favour getting Tomas in front of six yard box , 3-1 to Midleton , more changes , we tried swapping a few positions , Timmy for Tomas and Kane for Evan Kelly but Avondale were persistent and scored another goal. We used all our subs Michael and Darragh Codd played a part keeping Avondale at bay.
Final Score was 3-2 , Well done Midleton.

League at Ballyvolane V Leeds on Sunday 5th October 2014
Leeds 1 Midleton 6
Another super team performance by our young lads who traveled to Leeds Park today to try and continue their recent run of good form. The game had only just began and within 20 seconds Chris O Connor had rattled the bottom of the post, this was the first of 5 times that the post was hit during todays game. The boys pressed and pressed Leeds early on in the game looking for our 1st goal but as so often happens in football it was Leeds who grabbed an early advantage when they broke through the middle and caught us on the counter, but as all good teams do Midleton bounced back straight away with a great team goal finished off by Christopher O Connor. Midleton went from strength to strength and within two minutes after equalising they were in front thanks to a great individual goal by Tomas Lambe. Half Time came and the Magpies went in with a 2-1 lead.
At the start of the 2nd half Christopher o Connor was bashing the post again and was unlucky not to finish off a fantastic ball by Liam Mcgrath, but within 5 mins Midleton had scored another 2, Kane Rowlands and again Tomas Lambe putting their nameS on the scored sheet. The score of the game was finished off with a great header by Timmy Adebayo after some fantastic inter changeable play between Shay Bohan, Timmy, Kane Rowlands and David Connolly. This certainly was my favorite goal of the season to date. Tomas Lambe grabbed a well deserved hat trick on the hour to capped off a brilliant performance once again.
This Team showed great character once they went behind, and yet again proved that they will play to the final whistle no matter what the score sheet says.
Well done to all involved.

League at Midleton V Mayfield on Sunday 7th September 2014
Mayfield 1 Midleton 4
Midleton put in another superb team performance and secured another 3 points by beating mayfield in another very hot Sunday morning. Goals were scored by tomas lambe 2, Liam McGrath and Christopher o connor. Every player who participated and represented the club were fantastic. Well done to all involved.

League at Ardath Park V Youghal on Saturday 31st August 2014
Youghal 3 Midleton 7

Our young lads got their 1st taste of competitive action when they travelLed to Youghal on a bright Sunday morning, and after 30 secs they had taken the lead thanks to a fantasic break between our front two men Tomas Lambe and Christopher o Connor, Tomas not for the last time today claiming the assist as he put in Christopher to calmly finish for his 1st of the day. Midleton pressed from early on and pinned youghal back into their own half and it wasnt long before they got their second and third through Christopher O Connor and Liam Mcgrath, both of these goals came down our right side through Ciaran Sice, Kane Rowlands and Tomas Lambe. Midletons midfield consisting of Shay Bohan and Niall corcoran were well on top at this stage of the game and were creating plenty of chances while dominating in front of the back four. The back four Ciaran Sice,Darragh Codd, Dylan o Hallorahan and Jake Mallon as well as our fantastic keeper Ronan Gies had a very comfortable 30 mins before Youghal scored from their 1st chances when they stuck one into the top corner from 25 yards. Midleton played some lovely two touch football at times and created some great chances and if not for Youghals goalie then Midleton would have been out of sight. On the 40th min Christopher o Connor struck again with some very instinctive finishing, a move that started with Niall Corcoran and was created by Kane Rowlands. Youghal kept themselves in the game on the stroke of half time when Dylan O Hallorahan and Jake Mallon both doubled teamed the Youghal striker inside the area giving away a penalty making the score 4-2 at half time.
Unfortunately Midleton didnt start the 2nd half as they did the 1st and were very slow to get going. immediately they found themselves under pressure, but some great defending from Darragh Codd and Michael O Dwyer kept the Youghal attack at bay, but unfortunately the pressure took its toll and Youghal found themselves back in the game when they pulled one back to make it 4-3. At this stage the intense heat and hard work was beginning to take its toll and was evident on some of our young lads, so we introduced David Connolly, Neill Fitzgerald and Timmy Adebayeo to the game and they had an immediate impact. David slotted in next to Dylan and immediately dominated at the back, pushing the back 4 out as a unit. Neill had an impact a bit like ole gunner Solskjaer and within 5 mins had managed to stick two typical no 9 finishes into the back of the net in pure natural style. At this stage Youghal were struggling to cope with Midletons pace and power especially from Timmy and Tomas. Just before the full time whistle Youghal had a freekick again saved by Ronan who looked so comfortable between the posts all morning. In all this was our 1st competitive game as a team. Everyone one of the lads represented the club very well and done us all very proud. well done to all involved. we look forward to next weeks fixture v Mayfield.
