League away to Mallow United A on Sunday 26th May 2013
Mallow United A 0 Midleton A 0

Points even for the second time against Mallow and a clean sheet after the disappointment of Coachford, who are clearly 3 divisions below where they should be. In a game with few clear cut chances the talking points were both keepers, Darragh Cashman in the first half who saved a penalty on the stroke of halftime after the referee awarded the penalty when Jamie Collins was judged to have fouled the Mallow forward. Cashman dived to his right and with a strong hand pushed the ball away from goal and Midleton Cleared.

The second half was again limited on clear chances best chance of the half fell to Casagrande late on who one on one with the keeper unleashed his shot somehow the Mallow keeper got a hand to it and the ball was cleared. Last away game of the season and a fair result with one game to play at home to Corkbeg lets finish with 3 points to end the season on a high note!!!

League home to Bandon on Sunday 5th May 2013
Midleton A 4 Bandon 1

Back to winning ways after the disappointment of the 0-0 with Mallow, we started slowly and Bandon dominated the first 15 minutes they had two or three great chances before the Magpies took the lead through Casagrande after excellent build up play in midfield. The lead only lasted a couple of minutes and it was a deserved equalizer on the balance of play. This woke the lads up and we really start to play with Casagrande a constant threat with his pace and power up front and got his second on 26 minutes again Zach got the run on the Bandon defence and he rarely misses those opportunities. The talking point of the game happened just on half time again Casagrande broke free and looked likely to get his hat-trick only to be chopped down by the Bandon keeper as he went to go round him amazingly the Referee waved play on and we went in at the break 2-1.

Ethan Daly, Jack Hennesey and Tomas Dupas were introduced in the first 5 minutes of the second half and it payed off with Hennesey keeping his 100% record with of scoring in all his appearances this season using his pace for a great run and finish low to the keepers right. Midleton continued to press and got the fourth through a bit of luck, Aaron Mulcachy whipped in a corner the ball fell at the feet of the Bandon player who stuck out a leg and knocked it into his own net after good pressure from Jamie Collins. Tadgh Healy and Peter Flemming came on for the last 10 minutes to give some fresh legs in midfield and up front. This was a good team performance after a shaky first 10 minutes Zach Casagrande was man of the match but Darragh Cashman had a fine game in goal notably a great save from a free kick and another good display from the back 4. Well done lads!

League away to Passage United on Saturday 20th April 2013
Passage United 1 Midleton A 1

A hard fought draw away at Passage after getting off to a dream start through Robbie Kinane in the first minute Midleton dominated possession in the first half without creating any clear cut chances. The second half it was backs to the wall and it was only a matter of time before the equalizer came. After 2 great saves from Cashman one down low to his right and the second a great reaction save to push the ball over the bar. The equalizer came after another Cashman save came down off the crossbar for Cian Crowley to clear a certain goal off the line the ball fell at the feet of the passage player who finished well to make it 1-1. We were hanging on for the last 10 minutes and the lads at the back stood up to the fight and held on for another away point. Well done lads!!!

Albert Conboye Cup away to Eveton on Monday 15th April 2013
Eveton 3 Midleton A 1
Back to cup action last night and in awful conditions we were beaten 3-1. We conceded a penalty on 6 minutes when the Everton player went down after a challenge from Casagrande. Cashman went the right way but couldn't keep out the spot kick, he did keep out a free kick minutes later diving full stretch to his right to push the ball out for a corner. Midleton had a few chances before the break with Dupas, Casagrande and Desmond all with strikes at goal.

The magpies drew level through Casagrande after a great through ball from Dupas, Zack took one touch and powered the ball past the Everton keeper. We were the better side at this stage and playing the better football even in the conditions when disaster struck and we conceded two fast goals which killed off the tie. In fairness to the lads they kept going but the bit of luck we needed didn't come and Everton ran down clock for a 3-1 win.

League away to Rockmount on Sunday 7th April 2013
Rockmount 3 Midleton A 3
This was your classic game of two halves Midleton played with the wind in the first half and completely dominated creating 2 or 3 great chances before Jack Hennesey ran clear of the Rockmount defence from a Jamie Collins free kick 1-0 Magpies. Two more goals were added from Robbie Kinane after a great strike from Horgan the Rockmount keeper could only parry the ball onto the crossbar which dropped nicely for Kinane to finish Jack Horgan added a third and Midleton were cruising. Then came the game changer with their only attack of the first half Rockmount pulled one back on the stroke of half time 3-1 at the break.

With the wind at their backs Rockmount pushed us back in our own half and got their second midway through the half. With our lads facing the biting wind and dropping back deeper the equalizer was always going to come. With only a couple of minutes left Rockmount got what they deserved on the day. It finished 3-3 on a day that weather conditions dictated the game. 4 points from two away games is a good return.

League away to Riverstown A on Thursday 4th April 2013
Riverstown A 1 Midleton A 4

4 first half goals wrapped up this game and all 3 points for the magpies. We were 1 up inside the first two minutes with Horgan racing forward onto a through ball take it around keeper and finish into an empty net. The rest of the half was all about Zack Casagrande a man of the match performance with a hat-trick and constant threat every time he went forward. Midleton completely dominated the half and should of scored more but went in 4-0 at half time.

Midleton made changes in the 2nd half using all 5 subs and we lost our shape and attacking threat a bit. That said there were some great chances for Jack Hennesey, Tadgh Healy and one cleared off the line from Jamie Collins. Riverstown scored late on and missed a penalty but it was a comfortable win for the lads.

League at home to Springfield Ramblers B on Sunday 24th March 2013
Midleton A 5 Springfield Ramblers B 1

On a bitterly cold Mart Field we returned to league action after the cup defeat to Carrigaline and with just 11 players and no recognized goalkeeper our squad was tested to the limits. We started well playing nice football creating 3 or 4 great chances without finding the net. As the first half came to an end and Springfield pinned back in their half it looked like one of those days until 2 fast goals from Jack Horgan and from a tight angle on the left a great finish from Casagrande to take us in 2 up at half time.

Second half started as the first finished with Midleton dominating but it was Springfield who scored next from a nothing ball down the middle a moments hesitation at the back and the Springfield forward ran clear at goal and finished neatly to make it 2-1. Springfield could of made it all square only for the keeper to get to the ball just ahead of the on rushing Springfield forward. This woke our lads up and again we completely dominated the next 20 minutes with two great goals from distance the first a 20 yard strike from the left by Casagrande and another 20 yarder from the right this time by Darragh Desmond Jack Horgan got his second late on with a trademark finish taking the ball around the keeper to finish. A good day overall despite the cold with some lovely football played from the back into midfield and onto the forwards a great team effort. A special mention to the stand keeper Tyrese Emerhu he did a great job for his first time in goal.

Local Cup away to Rockmount on Sunday 10th February 2013
Rockmount 0 Midleton A 3

This was our best performance of the season. Midleton took an early lead after Tomas Dupas went down in the box inside the first 5 minutes. Aaron Mulcahy stepped up and put the ball past the Rockmount keeper. Midleton kept the pressure on and Rockmount struggled to cope with the pace of Dupas and Horgan up front and the support play from midfield by Ethan Daly and Robbie Kinane. The second goal came from a Mulcahy corner and after a couple of blocked shots the ball fell to Kinane who knocked in at the back post. 2-0 Midleton with just 10 minutes gone. Midleton sat back after that and Rockmount finished the half stronger without creating any clear cut chances.

The second half was all Midleton and we could of scored 4 or 5 Dupas, Casagrande, Fenton and Tadgh Healy all had great chances in the second half. The third came from Horgan who broke the offside line and took the ball around the keeper and from a very tight angle finished expertly into an empty net. This was an excellent performance from the lads 3 goals and a first clean sheet of the season for a reshuffled back four which saw Stephen Forde switch to centre half and Cian Ronan going to left back beside Collins and Crowley. Aaron Mulcahy in his new midfield role just pipped  Ethan Daly for man of the match.
All in all a good team performance.

League away to Killinardrish Coachford on Saturday 12th January 2013
Killinardrish Coachford 7 Midleton A 2

A day to forget for our lads today a 7-2 loss away at Coachford, we gifted them 4 of the seven goals a sliced clearance a deflection a moments hesitation and Coachford punished us everytime mainly through their left winger. But things could have been so much different Midleton started the better team and created 2 or 3 great chances in the first 15 minutes. It was end to end for the next 15 minutes with Coachford taking a 2 goal lead Jack Horgan halved the lead, Coachford restored the 2 goal advantage again and just on half time Horgan scored again to make it 3-2 at the break.

The next goal was important had we got it the result might have been different but it went to Coachford and they kicked on to win comfortably in the end. Credit to our lads they kept going and never gave up.
Lessons learned and we'll kick on from here.
Good performances from Ethan Daly in midfield and Aaron Mulcachy at the back.

League at home to Passage United on Sunday 2nd December 2012
Midleton A 2 Passage United 2
An entertaining 2-2 draw on a very wet Mart Field. Midleton were the better side in the early exchanges and should have taken the lead after neat work from Jack Horgan to Cian Ronan who's cross from the right for Tomas Dupas was missed by inches. The lead came when man of the match Horgan beat the offside for a cool finish. This should of spurred us on but we sat back and the equalizer came after a shot from the corner of the 18 yard box was well saved by Cashman but the Passage forward reacted quickest for an easy finish. Midleton were 2-1 down before the break when the Passage player cut into the box from the right and finished well to the keepers right hand corner.

Superb reaction from the lads in the second half and got a deserved equalizer from the inform Horgan who pounced on a mistake at the back and with another cool finish brings his goal tally to 4 for the season. The game was end to end with our back four Crowley, Collins ,Mulcachy and Forde keeping Passage to long range efforts one had Cashman at full stretch to push it out for a corner. Midleton pushed for the winner and were finishing the game stronger but in the end we ran out of time.
A great game and a draw was a fair result overall!!

League away to Corkbeg on Saturday 17th November 2012
Corkbeg 1 Midleton A 1

Tough day out for the lads this week, a tricky away game to local rivals Corkbeg. Corkbeg stared the better side and could have been 1 up before Midleton went a ahead against the run of play when Jack Horgan latched on to a mix up at the back by Corkbeg to slot home on 8 minutes. This settled Midleton and with few clear cut chances for either side we went in at half time 1 up.

Corkbeg began the second half stronger with their midfield controlling the game and got a deserved equalizer from a corner. The ball was played in low with Midleton asleep it was an easy tap in from 2 yards 1-1 and game on. Midleton made changes with Darragh Desmond replaced by Daniel Cioclacu and the hard working Cian Ronan replaced by Scott Fenton. David Kammer moved from the left to the centre and Zack Casagrande moved to the left. Some nice football played by both sides with no reward. It was going to take a special goal to win this game and it came with 2 minutes remaining a shot from 25 yards looped over Darragh Cashman who had no chance. Our lads didn't give up and forced 3 corners in the final few minutes in search of the equalizer but in the end ran out of time. A tight game that Corkbeg just shaded, we look forward to the return fixture. Despite losing there were some good performances from Aaron Mulcachy and again Zack Casagrande but man of the match was Robbie Kinane well done Robbie.

League at home to Rockmount on Sunday 4th November 2012
Midleton A 4 Rockmount 2

A good all round performance from the lads today. Two early goals in the first 15 minutes from Jack Horgan after great work from Tomas Dupas and a fantastic lob of the keeper from man of the match Zack Casagrande got us off to a great start. Midleton should of kicked on from here after creating a host of chances but couldn't find the net. Rockmount pulled one back before half time despite the best effort of Darragh Cashman who at full stretch got a strong hand to the ball only for it to go in off the post.

2nd half was much the same midleton creating chances with no reward. Then Casagrande's shot from the edge of the area came back off the bar and was finished off by Scott Fenton 3-1 Midleton. Again Rockmount hit back to make it 3-2 and a nervous last few minutes before Scott Fenton broke away and with great finish to the roof of the net wrapped up all points for the home side.
