Under 15 2014/15 Division 1 Match Reports

League at Home V Rockmount on Saturday 1th April 2015
Midleton 4 Rockmount 0
In their last home league match Midleton played Rockmount in this premier league clash. Midleton dominated the early exchanges and created a few early chances with Loic Ngeufang and Conor O'Leary going close. The opening goal came after 15 minutes when Charlie Whalley sent in a great cross from the right and Alan Hogan made no mistake from close range. After going ahead Midleton allowed Rockmount back into the game who had a couple of good chances before half time and might have scored if Arthur Nganou hadn't made two excellent saves.
Midleton showed more agression at the start of the 2nd half which allowed them to get back on top. This was rewarded when Loic finished cooly following some good work down the left by Joe Stack. Having gone 2 down Rockmount pushed more players forward and started to leave gaps at the back. Dale Holland scored a great third goal when he burst past two defenders and finished with a strong shot. Dale added a fourth shortly after to complete a comfortable victory for Midleton.

League at Mallow on Saturday 14th February 2015
Mallow 0 Midleton 2
On a perfect day for football Midleton were away to Mallow for this premier league fixture. Midleton were slow to get going and there were no clear cut chances for either side in the first 20 minutes. As the half wore on Midleton started to take control of the game which lead to a couple of good chances with Dale Holland and Charlie Whalley going close. The pressure eventually told when Loic broke the off side trap and sent a powerful shot past their keeper.
Midleton continued their dominance in the 2nd half and only for an excellent display by the Mallow goalkeeper would have scored a few more. The second goal eventually game late in the half when Loic latched onto a great ball from Conor O'Leary, rounded the keeper and scored with a cool finish. Midleton did create a couple of more chances before the final whistle with Shane O'Hanlon forcing another great save for their keeper. All in all a very good performance and a well deserved win for Midleton.

Local Cup at Ringmahon Park to Ringmahon on Saturday 7th January 2015
Ringmahon 4 Midleton 3
Midleton were handed a tough draw in the last 32 of the Local Cup, away to premier league rivals Ringmahon. The first 30 minutes was a tight affair with very few clear cut chances for either side. Midleton took the lead shortly before half time when Loic put in a greet cross form the right which was met with a powerful header at the back post from Charlie Whalley. Arthur Nganou pulled off a great save, diving to his right, to maintain Midleton's lead going into the break.
Ringmahom dominated the early stages of the second half and equalised with a soft goal from a corner kick. Midleton came storming back into the game and after creating a couple of half chances took the lead again when Alan Hogan converted from close range after great work by Dale Holland down the right. Failure to defend corner kicks proved to be Midleton's undoing as Ringmahon equalised from a corner with 10 minutes to go.
The match went into extra time and Ringmahon took the lead again from another corner. With Midleton pushing bodies forward they were caught on the break and Ringmahon went further ahead. To Midleton's credit they never gave up and Daniel McGauran pulled one back with 5 minutes remaining. They pushed hard for an equaliser but it wasn't to be so their defence of the cup ended at the first hurdle.

League at Home to Ringmahon on Saturday 13th December 2014
Midleton 1 Ringmahon 1
On a very cold morning Midleton were at home to Ringmahon in this premier league clash. Midleton started very well and dominated pocession for most of the first half. They created a number of good oppuntunities with Charlie Whalley, Alan Hogan and Dale Holland going close. After 30 minutes Midleton finally made the pressure pay when a deep cross from the left found Joe Stack who finished with a powerful header.
Ringmahon picked up the pace in the second half and started to put Midleton under a fair bit of pressure. After 10 minutes they almost scored with a powerful shot from inside the box only for Arthur Nganou to make a great save. With 15 minutes left Ringmahon broke quickly down the right and sent in a dangerous cross which was converted at the near post. Midleton will be disappointed to only get a draw fronm the gane as they should have been out of sight by half time.

League at Home to Carrigaline on Saturday 29th November 2014
Carrigaline 1 Midleton 1
Midleton were at home to Carrigaline in this premier league clash on a perfect day for football. The first half was a very even affair with excellent football played by both teams. The first clear cut chance was created by Midleton when Joe Stack sent a great ball through to Loic who shot narrowly wide. Carrigaline also had a couple of goal attempts but Arthur Nganou pulled off some fine saves. Shortly before half time Midleton took the lead when a cross was cleared but fell to James Lane who slotted the ball home.
In the second half Carrigaline pushed for the equaliser but the Midleton defence held firm with Shane O'Riordan outstanding at centre half. With 20 minutes left there was an unfortunate incident when a Carrigaline player accidently collided with the Midleton keeper and hit the ground awkwardly. He suffered bad concussion and was take away by ambulance. Our best wishes go to the player who we all hope is back playing in the near future. The match continued and with 10 minutes left Carrigaline got the equaliser following a goal mouth scramble. All in all a draw was a fair result as both teams gave it everything.

League at Douglas to Douglas Hall on Saturday 11th October 2014
Midleton 0 Douglas Hall 2
Midleton were away to Douglas Hall in this premier clash with both sides level on points in second and third place in the league. The first 25 minutes were a very cagey affair with no clear cut chance for either side. On 30 minutes Midleton gave away a silly penalty which Douglas converted. Five minutes later Midleton conceded another poor goal to go in 2-0 down at half time.
To their credit Midleton came out fighting in the second half and dominated possession for long periods. However they found it difficult to break down a very strong Douglas defence. Conor O'Leary came very close with 10 minutes remaining when he was found with a great ball from Dale Holland but he shot narrowly wide. In truth Midleton didn't create enough to get something from the game.

League at Mahon to Ringmahon Rangers on Saturday 20th September 2014
Midleton 4 Ringmahon Rangers 2
Good away performance by the lads today in Mahon collecting all three points. First goal fell to Loic with a great passing movement involving seven players. Ringmahon pulled back an equaliser but Midleon got ahead just before half time with a break on the wing by Charlie and getting his cross into the box a deft flick by Conor had the ball in the net.
Midleton started second half strong with Tommy going close after a string of passes came together. Loic struck a few minutes with a goal worthy to win any march , shot from 35 yards looping over the keeper. Alan hogan pulled the fourth with a chip over the keeper from outside the box . Another good passing move was then put together with Charlie through on goal, and was pulled down in what looked like a penalty . Ringmahon got a penalty late in the game which they put away. Shane o Hanlon nearly got off the mark near the end with a shot that rammed off the crossbar.
Lads delighted with performance which keeps us close to the league leaders.

League at home to Lakewood on Saturday 13th September 2014
Midleton 1 Lakewood 1
Midleton were at home to Lakewood for this premier league clash in perfect conditions for football. For the first 30 minutes Midleton were pushed back with Lakewood playing a high pressure game and winning the 50/50 exchanges. Although Lakewood didn\'t create many clear cut chances they did score with a powerful header from a corner which was nearly kept out with a brave effort from the keeper Arthur Nganou. Towards the end of the half Midleton came more into the game and went close with efforts from Alan Hogan and Conor O\'Leary.
It was certainly a game of two halves as Midleton dominated most of the 2nd period and got a deserved equaliser when Joe Stack split the defence with a great pass which was finished cooly by Charlie Whalley who slid the ball under the keeper. Midleton went looking for the winner but in fairness to Lakewood they stood firm and limited Midleton to a couple of half chances. All in all a draw was a fair result.

League at home to Ballea Park on Saturday 6th September 2014
Midleton 2 Carraigaline 0
Important second game of season away to Carraig , a tough place to get a result . Midleton scored after 2 minutes with a fantastic free kick by Joe Stack which was delivered into the top corner. Midleton kept control in the first half with few chances for either side . Second half was different with Carraigaline coming out to play and they created some early chances in the half but Arthur was alerted in goals and pulled off some great saves . Midleton came close a few times with a header from Conor from a corner, Loic had a shit from distance and Alan H had a great dragback like McGeady and had goals at his mercy but the Carraig keeper pulled off a great safe. 10 minuted to goal Midleton got the second goal they deserved with a break by Loic who set Charlie up one on one with the keeper where he got there first and slotted the ball into an empty net .
Midleton closed the game out in the final minutes and no MOM today as it was a great team performance .

League at home to Inishvilla on Saturday 30th August 2014
Midleton 2 Inishvilla 0
Midleton were at home to Inishvilla in their first league game of the season. Midleton took control of the game from the the start with Dale Holland, James Lane & Joe Stack dominating in midfield. However we failed to convert a number of early chances and it took 25 minutes to score the opening goal. Daniel McGauran swung in a perfect corner and the ball was headed down by Robin Ward which Alan Hogan pounced on and drilled the ball low into the net. Five minutes later a brilliant pass from Dale found Loic Nguefang on the right wing who beat the full back and sent in a great cross which was finished by Conor O\'Leary.
Midleton created a number of chances in the second half with Shane O\'Hanlon, Sean Morrissey and Loic going close. However Midleton were unable to add to the score line but 3 points on the board was a good start to the season.
