Under 15 2012/13 Premier Division Match Reports

League away to Ringmahon Rangers on Saturday 18th May 2013
Ringmahon Rangers 2 Midelton 8

Last game of the season and saved the best for last. An outstanding performance from all thirteen players today, especially Barry at left midfield scoring four goals. Garan got his hattrick opening up the scoring after only five minutes, his other two from corners in the second half.

Barry got his first in the 15th minute second on 39th and other two in the second half with Cathal scoring his on 13. Mathew and Fionn in midfield gave opposition no room to play, the back four with Liam Cotter in goals cleaned everything else up and Thomas up front linked up very well with Garan. Don't normally give a man of the match but Barry really deserves it today with his performance. Brilliant team performance as well and I would like to wish them the best of luck for next season

League at home to Corinthian Boys on Saturday 15th December 2012
Midleton 0 Corinthian Boys 2

Last league game of 2012 and it would have been nice to end with a win which on todays performance we would of deserved. Unfortunatly goals win games and we cant seem to buy one these days. We dominated this game from start to finish, created plenty of chances but couldn't put the ball in the net. Can't fault any of the players, their attitude at training and games is brilliant but they just need that little bit of luck to finish games on the right side of the result. Let's hope this happens in 2013. I'd like to wish all the players and their parents a happy christmas.

National Cup away to Carrigaline on on Saturday 1st December 2012
Carrigaline 1 Midleton 1. Carrigaline win 3-2 on penalties

Went to play Carrigaline today in the National cup with the prize for the winners the oppurtunity to progress out of Cork. The game started very poorly for us as we were unable to get hold of the ball with Carrigaline playing some lovely football. Lucky not to get to half time three down instead of one. We gathered ourselves together at half time and made one change Barry coming on for Aaron and we started to get a foothold in the game.

Total opposite to the first half we started to play the better football and got the goal we deserved when Ryan finished into the bottom right hand corner. I cannot complement Ryan enough for the amount of work he puts in up front on his own. Brought Mathew on fifteen minutes into second half to help Garan, who was getting some very close attention from Carrigaline, and this allowed Garan to push further forward and was unlucky a few times. Game ended 1-1 at full time and into extra time we were the better team creating more chances Ryan unlucky with our best chance, a header off the crossbar from a corner. Into the dreaded penalty shootout and well done to the five who stepped up but unfotunatly it wasnt to be going down 3-2.
Good luck to Carrigaline in the next round and if we can keep playing as well as we are we should fear no one.

League away to Springfield Ramblers on Saturday 24th November 2012
Springfield Ramblers 1 Midleton 2

Today the lads finally got the result that their last few performances have merited. Again a slow start allowing ramblers to score after three minutes from a corner, but once they settled into the game started to take control. We got our first from a corner taken by Garan which Liam headed in at the near post. Our second came from good play down the left which Aaron finished superbly. We were under a lot of pressur for the last ten minutes but held on for the win. Back four and keeper played very well today as did the midfield but Ryan up front on his own was outstanding.

League at home to Carrigaline United on Saturday 17th November 2012
Midleton 0 Carrigaline United 3

Another loss today but can't fault the effort the players put in. Missing our first choice keeper, Fionn stepped in and did an exellent job pulling off three first class saves, he could do nothing about the goals, the first a back post header the other two were down to mistakes by our centre back .Still created a lot of chances but luck wasnt on our side. Good to have Garan and Stephen back but Barry had to come off early with a recurrance of an injury, hope hes back soon.

League at home to Ringmahon Rangers on Saturday 3rd November 2012
Midleton 0 Ringmahon Rangers 2

Not a very good day for us. Losing 2-0 against a team we should be beating, missing players of the calibre of Garan, Stephen, Barry and Paudrigh doesn't help but that excuse aside we should still have given a better account of ourselves. Two mistakes cost us the game and only for Liam in goal it could have been three or four.

League away to Avondale United on Saturday 27th October 2012
Avondale United 0 Midleton 1

Needed 3 points today and the team played that way, very nervous. We played well in patches but rarely strung more than 5 passes together. We had our chances in the first half, Ryan hitting his shot at the keeper when played through one of our better ones. The goal came from one of our best passages of play when Cathal got the ball out right and delivered a low cross into the box which Garan scored from after a late run into the box.

Second half again played well in patches, Garan again with a header just over the bar, Cathal the same just couldn't put them away. Still, another win after beating Blarney 3 2 in the nat cup last week. Goals from Ryan, Garan and Chyna who scored an amazing goal after picking the ball up in his own half, beating about 7 players and finishing in the bottom left of the goals. This team has so much more to offer.

League away to Park United on Saturday 6th October 2012
Park United 0 Midleton 2

A good win on the road for the lads against a strong park team who caused us a few problems in the first half. Once Midleton settled down we started to boss the game with Garan pulling the strings in midfield ably supported by Mathew, Aaron, Stephen, Tommy and Barry who came on to replace Aaron in the first half because of injury. Our first goal came from a quick throw out from our keeper Liam, who had an excellent game, which found Mathew. Mathew took one touch and passed to Ryan who finished in the top corner. Ryan is only getting better with every game.

Second half we were much better with Garan running at their defence at every opportunity. Second goal came from Barry when he cut in from the right and unleashed a shot to the top corner that no keeper would have stopped. He got such a shock it went in he didn't know how to celebrate but a brilliant reaction from the rest of the team when they all jumped on top of him. Nice to have another win on the road after beating Buttevant last week in the National Cup 1-0.

League away to Corinthian Boys on Saturday 15th September 2012
Corinthian Boys 6 Mideton 2

Mathew scored our first goal after 11 mins after a good layoff from Ryan but they came straight back to score an equiliser and then scored 3 more in quick succession. Midleton didn't let their heads drop which is a credit to them and could have gone in at half time at 4-4.
Second half played much better but got caught twice. Ross got our second goal from a quick freekick outside the box the shot looping over the keepers head.
