Beamish cup 1st Rnd result
Mayfield 0-2 Midleton

Goalscorers: Jake Hegarty Kelvin Kruschel

A Tricky day back up in Mayfield today , playing a team for a second week in a row is always a tough assignment, but Midleton stood up the task well with a very commanding performance, midleton should really have been two goals to the good at half time but only for some excellent goalkeeping from Mayfield keeper to keep out Jake Hegarty on both occasions. Bobbi o Donoghue came close just striking over from 12yrds just before half time HT 0-0 .

Midleton opened the scoring finally on the hour , after Hegarty again came close twice, missing fractionally, but a piece of magic from Tijani struck a wonder ball cross field for O’Donoghue who controlled well and played a superb early cross to pick out Hegarty who slammed home to open the scoring. James Leahy nearly made it two minutes later but somehow a deflection from a Mayfield player sent it past the bottom corner to everyone’s amazement.
Mayfield came close themselves shortly after but Midleton Keeper Ray Savage stopped well low to his right out for a corner.
Midleton did make it two from a scrappy piece of play young left back Cillian O Brien spotted a disjointed Mayfield back three and played in Kelvin Kruschel and he made no mistake lobbing the keeper from a tight angle with a very confident finish to wrap up the tie.

Well done lads great result, and once again massive contribution from the whole squad, with injuries and suspensions never hampering the Team over the last number of weeks.

Next round is away to Carrigaline or Park Utd
