Midleton        1          0          Ennis Town

It wasn’t ideal for the magpies having to give up home advantage today but weather conditions handcuffed them, and Lakewood Athletic allweather was destination of choice.

What a battle this was from the off, horrendous conditions for the 1st 20min, both teams must be commended for trying to play football. Being honest there was absolutely nothing in this contest for the majority of the game, but Midleton did have some very good passages of football and got the only goal of the game from one of those. Daniel Murnane beating two players on the endline, then cutting the ball back to Daragh O’Brien who side stepped a tackle only to be up ended in the box. Charlie O’Brien successfully finished into the top of the goal from the spot to put the magpies ahead. A scare shortly after a defensive mistake nearly left Ennis back into the game but a world class save from Alex Howard and never say die defending epitomised by Oran Sweetman enabled the magpies to weather the storm and see out a fine cup win. Brilliant character shown by all and a deserved spot in the Q-Final ahead.
