Under-12 Girls Premier Division Match Reports

League at home to Crosshaven on Saturday 19th February
Midleton 5   Crosshaven  0

Well done to the Midleton U12 girls last Saturday 19th February. Captained by Danielle O'Donoghue, the Midleton girls put on their best performance of the season against Crosshaven U 12. The first goal came within 5 minutes with Deanna Browne putting the ball in the net following a great run from Kate Desmond. Midleton's midfield were the stronger of both teams and Chloe Sigerson and Courtney Histon were constantly making runs and feeding the ball into the box. Crosshaven were dangerous on the break and the back 4 of Danielle O'Donoghue, Chloe Horgan, Charley Moore and Roisin Greenwood played exceptionally well. Kate Desmond scored the second goal and the first half ended with Midleton 2 nil up. The second half saw Sarah Brouder play a superb game on the right wing and some great passing saw her feed the ball to Chloe Sigerson for goal number 3 and goal number 4 came from another through ball from Sarah to Courtney Histon who with her fantastic on the ball skills saw her score her first of 2 goals. Great defensive play from Lily Duggan and Roisin Greenwood kept Crosshaven from pressing forward and some great passing saw Goal number five 3 minutes from full time from the magical skill of Courtney Histon.
Well done to all the girls.

League away to Douglas hall on Saturday 15th January
Midleton 0  Douglas Hall  0

The Midleton U12 girls team captained by Danielle O'Donoghue travelled to Douglas Hall Saturday the 15th in the wind and rain for this league clash. Luckily the game was played on Douglas Hall's Astro turf pitch so the team had no muck to contend with, just the driving wind and rain!!!. This was an evenly matched game with both teams playing as well as they could in the conditions. Congratulations to all the girls for their commitment on the day. Player of the match went to Chloe Horgan of Midleton.
Team: Danielle O'Donoghue (capt), Ciara Deady, Charley Moore, Chloe Horgan, Jane McGauran, Sarah Brouder, Delapo Bello, Chloe Sigerson, Caitlin Ryan, Kate Desmond, Deanna Browne, Dionne Carrol,  Taylor Dennehy, Anita Carroll.

League home to Ballinhassig on Saturday 11th December
Midleton 2  Ballinhassig 2
Midleton, captained by Danielle O'Donoghue welcomed Ballinhassig U12 to Knockgriffin on Sat 11th December and with hard work and determination staged a magnificant comeback to draw the game level. Under poor conditions Ballinhassig were on top from the start with Ballinhassigs Jane Harrington and Maebh O'Sullivan constantly pressuring the Midleton defence and within the first 5 minutes Maebh O'Sullivan scored for the visitors. Midleton continued to play well and Jane McGauran played a fantastic defensive game keeping the swift Jane Harrington at bay. Great performances from Kate Desmond and Courtney Histon up front saw Midleton try to equalise but great Goalkeeping from the Ballinhassig keeper denied Midleton their chances. Ballinhassig fought on and a great goal from Geraldine Collins saw Ballinhassig end the first half 2 nil up.

The second half saw Midleton regroup and both Sarah Brouder and Jane McGauran linked up and again kept Jane Harrington from Ballinhassig from pressing forward. Ciara Deady in goal had a fantastic game and put in some great saves from the strong Ballinhassig forwards. A well deserved goal by Kate Desmond ensured Midleton were still in the game with 15 minutes to go. Midleton stepped up their game with great defensive play from the back four and a great tackle from Roisin Greenwood saw her pass to the on form Kate Desmond who with great link up play from Chloe Sigerson and Courtney Histon, Kate Desmond scored her 2nd well deserved goal. Well done to the Midleton girls and to Kate Desmond who had a blistering game on her return from injury.

Team: Danielle O'Donoghue (captain), Chloe Horgan, Charley Moore, Jane McGauran, Sarah Brouder, Deanna Browne, Lily Duggan, Courtney Histon, Dionne Carrol, Ciara Deady, Roisin Greenwood, Chloe Sigerson, Kate Desmond, Delapo Bello.=

League away to Glounthaune on Saturday 27th November
Midleton 6  Glounthaune 0

Midleton U12 girls captained by Danielle O'Donoghue travelled to Glounthaune on Saturday 27th November for a local derby as part of the Cork School Girls League. The weather was bitterly cold and it took a good 10 minutes for players from both teams to warm up! A strong performance from Caitlin Ryan straight from kick off saw her score the first goal of the match. This goal settled the team  and Chloe Sigerson found the net after great link up play with Delapo Bello and Courtney Histon. The scoreline of 3 nil did not deter Glounthaune as Midletons back line of Sarah Brouder, Charley Moore, Danielle O'Donoghue and Chloe Horgan were very busy with Glounthaunes Elana Flemming and Fiona Quinn constantly pressing forward and credit to Ciara Deady in goal who pulled off some great saves.
Glounthaune started the second half very strong but Charley Moore played a great defensive game marking the tall Elana Flemming and a great pass from Charley Moore to Caitlin Ryan saw Caitlin run the length of the pitch to score her second goal. The Midleton midfielders then took control of the game and Chloe Sigerson scored her second goal. Glounthaune did not hold back and fantastic play by Fiona Quinn insured Glounthaune kept the pressure on, but again Midletons defensive back 4 controlled by Danielle O'Donoghue insured Midleton kept a clean sheet. The final minutes saw Caitlin Ryan score her deserved 3rd goal for her hat trick. well done to all the girls and to Caitlin Ryan and Charley Moore who put in player of the match performances.
Next game Saturday 11th of December V Ballinhassig U12 girls in Knockgriffin.
