Under 13A 2013/14 Match Reports

National Cup away to Kilreen on Saturday 5th October 2013
Kilreen 3 Midleton 2
A classic cup tie that had everything it was a credit to both teams. Kilreen started the better side and went 1 up after 6 mins, their midfield were very strong and we were struggling to cope with their no.7 and no.8 especially. After weathering the storm the Magpies had a 15 minute period of pressure with 4 corners in the space of 10 minutes but we could not force the equalizer and went in at halftime 1 down. We were confident we could get the goal back in the second half as there was nothing between the teams in the first half. But again Midleton conceded the next goal 5 minutes into the half and on 45 minutes we were 3 nil down and it looked like game over.

Then the madness started we brought on Fenton and within a minute he scored after fantastic work by Horgan. He scored his second on 50 minutes again great work by Jack Horgan, now our lads started to believe they could pull off a shock result Robbie Kinane and Tomas Dupas were constant threats with driving runs at the Kilreen goal notably a great run and shot from Robbie and an excellent save from the Kilreen keeper. He turned out to be the hero again in injury time when Horgan was brought down in the box up stepped Ellis Rowlands to take the spot kick the Kilreen keeper guessed right and at fuul stretch to his right pushed the ball away to safety. A close end to the game but we can't afford to give teams a 3 goal start. Alot of positives taken from the game well done all.

League at home toTemple United on Saturday 21st September 2013
Midleton 0 Temple United 3

This was a day to forget our lads didn't turn up at all today and were lucky to get away with 3-0. Although we had our chances in the game Temple ran out easy winners with the score at 1-0 we always felt we might get back into the game but conceding straight from the kick off resulted in us chasing the game for all the second half and Temple caught us for the 3rd goal. We can only get better after last weekend.

League at home to Mallow A on Saturday 7th September 2013
Midleton 4 Mallow A 1
First day of the new season and 3 points in the bag, an impressive performance by an under strength magpies side today with just 11 players available at kick-off time it was great credit to the lads to get the win.
Zack Casagrande, suffering from a head cold, followed on from last seasons form with a hat-trick from midfield and a Robbie Kinane goal directly from a corner gave us the win.
Midleton dominated this game from start to finish but the opener didnt come until 16 minutes with Casagrande bagging his first. Against the run of play Mallow equalized 2 minutes later, Robbie restored the lead on the stroke of halftime to bring us in 2-1 up.
The game was wrapped up within seconds of the restart with Zack getting his second and he wrapped up his hat-trick midway through the half.
