Under 13A 2012/13 Division 4

League at home to Douglas Hall B on Wednesday 5th June 2012
Midleton 5 Douglas Hall B 1

Last game of season, messy start as pitch venue was not confirmed. Ref was not happy with poor pitch markings. So 7.15pm kick-off delayed. 7.30pm KO was agreed, finally a game! We started strong and kept possession for first ten mins, then a break on the right wing, Triston Horgan racing outside tapping the ball with speed heading for corner flag then tipping ball inside last defender a touch off Sean O'Sullivan back to Tristan finding a gap on right of keeper 1-0 to us. We kept pushing balls into Douglas half looking for chances but Douglas kept a tight back 4.David Harris, Kieran O'Sullivan, Ronan Lynch and Ellis Rowlands. They managed to push hard from Midleton back 4 on left back Ellis, sending a long ball into box  awaiting with a pure timed volley by Morgan Lee sent into centre of the net leaving keeper paused we are now 2 up. Douglas have 2 attempts at scoring but keeper Taran Troy makes a skilled 2 hand diving save on both attempts. Shocked Midleton side are beating league winners at halftime.

We keep the same passion and tempo up with a solid 4 in midfield Evan Rowlands, Solly as  he's known (Sean O'Sullivan), Griffin Hurley and Tristan Horgan, tracking back and pushing the Douglas defence back we forced Douglas into their own half Tristan and Cian Murphy using lovely 1-2's send Cian into centre of box placing number 3. The game was up and down the park but a chance was created in the form of a corner for Douglas, right corner struck hard at near post, but was sent threading, and I say threading as goal net was unstitched on home teams Goal (side net ?), er, Goal was rightly given. We had 3 hungry subs wanting some of the action, So taking lead man Morgan off for Cormac O'Brien and the 2 solid defence duo Ronan Lynch, and Kieran O'Sullivan off for the U12's centre backs Cian Crowley and Adam Meade who stood the last 20 mins keeping  the back closed and solid. Not expecting any more surprises, we stepped up again this time Cormac left footing a ball wide, minutes later Cian and Cormac  pushing keeper into net, 1 saved and then out and second one in the top of the net. Cormac pounds the ball at close range into the top netting, 5-1 was the end of season result.

League away to Corinthians Boys B on Sunday 9th December 2012
Corinthians Boys B 2 Midleton 6

Last game of 2012 for 13a’s and a couple of needed players missing with last minute sickness, Goalkeeper included! So a shuffle around and the awesome Big fella Sean O’Sullivan put the keepers gloves on. Captain was Cormac O'Brien. We kicked off in fighting form scoring a well-placed strike from Dylan Healy. Finding it tough but very persistent Corinthians got a free Kick just outside the Box! A strong wall was formed and guarding right post, but a beautifully taken free kick high and into top left corner of goal making it 1-1. We hit back very quickly with our midfield dominating centre of field Tristan Horgan at high pace beating 2 defenders and hammering ball into the back of the net, so 2-1 at half time.

Second half we did much the same, the back four David ,Kieran,Cormac and Donal holding the fort at back had little to do. This time Cian murphy was leading the attack pushing through defence using some sharp 1-2’s he pushed ball into home teams goal, now 3-1 up we could see a good result coming! Keeping the pressure on we had another run at goal this time Evan Rowlands came forward all guns blazing taking on 2 and slipping Keeper to the left 4-1. Making a substitution as Donal Greenwood injured his knee and was subbed for Griffin Hurley. Ellis Rowlands spotted a gap running into non-moving traffic and was awarded penalty for a trip, Ellis stepped up for Penalty leaving keeper paused as ball went left into back of net. We kept going leaving Corinthians with heads down. Icing on the cake as we pounded defence a ball bounced back out of the area Ellis seeing a massive gap between defence and goal hoofing the ball high over defence and dipping nicely into net 6-1 to us and Ellis gracefully making way in last 15 mins for Kian Farmer to come on as Sub.Morgan Lee dropped back into defence. In the last minute Corinthians managed a dignified goal as Midleton were waiting for final whistle, 6-2 away. Well done 13a’s great performance by all.

League at home to Kinsale on Saturday 24th November2012
Midleton 2
Kinsale 2
13A's were chomping at the bit for a Match. After being cancelled the game before. A change in formation (5-4-1) was a challange for Kinsale, solid at the back we kept the ball in there half most of first half, we had some great midfield battles and passing led to the first goal scored by Cian Murphy from a lovely one -two from Tristan Horgan. Cian placed the ball out of keepers reach inside righthand post. Then Kinsale had a lucky break with a soft penalty after there striker miss kicked ball completely but ref pointed to the spot ?. 1-1 at Halftime.

We pushed back but could'nt hit target. Kinsale had a justified penalty this time but hit the post! shortly after a free kick was given to Kinsale just outside our box and ball sent over Taran Troys head making it 2-1 to Kinsale. We were running out of time, so a sharp change and fresh legs needed 2 subs on Dylan and Cormac, We attacked hard and Tristan hit a rocket into box but it was deflected straight back out but Cormac O'Brien (defender) was racing in to power ball over defence and made the final score 2-2, great performance by all the lads. Well done to the gang.

League away to Douglas Hall A on Sunday 23rd September 2012
Douglas Hall A 5 Midleton 2

13A started well and showing great determination pushing hard into Douglas defence. A goal kick from Douglas end sending a long ball into our goal area was covered by Donal greenwood but with his back to striker, shadowing ball sent the striker over his back, penalty to Douglas hall, scoring with placed shot 1-0. Midleton responded just minutes later, Cian Murphy drawing keeper out and placing a ball in corner of net 1-1. We fought on but Douglas caught us off guard 2-1. Cian received a beautiful ball from Griffin Hurley across the width of pitch scoring a sitter half time 2-2 we had some bad clashes in second half! Evan Rowlands with a 50-50 challange was climbed upon from rear and sent down with a clash of heads and responded badly (Yellow Carded) Freekick went other way! and we lost ball a a fair bit, Griffin got a knee in back of head just outside Box but no free! Heads went down then and 2 sore heads we lost 5-2

League at home to Ballincollig on Saturday 8th September 2012
Midleton 2 Ballincollig 0

Thank you to Sean O'Sullivan for wearing the Goalkeepers shirt (Great Keeping buddy!) 13A's got off to a good start this season. Ballincollig had 2 very fast midfield players causing problem with there shear speed, Kieran O'Sullivan and Morgan Lee, spotting the greyhounds ! kept us out of trouble, not before 2 close shaves, off the woodwork. We found our feet fairly quickly and kept attacking until Ellis Rowlands sent a flyer over the keepers head and dipping it into back of net. Our new midfield have shown great team spirit! Griffin Hurley making a great debut geling very well with the lads, Credit to all! working hard all through second half and multiple shots from Cian and Dylan, and late sub Tumnde Oluto setting great pace on left wing with a shot Just wide!! final goal was a belter by Cian Murphy final score 2-0 well done Lads.
