Under-17 2011/12 Match Reports

League away to Macroom on 26th November
Macroom 1
Midleton 8
An early start and a long bus journey did not put off the Midleton lads, as they cruised to a comfortable victory in Macroom. It took a while to finally put a chance away, but excellent wingplay from Robert Williams and David Williams, and strong link-up play from Sean O'Farrell with the midfield saw Midleton create chance after chance, with Cian O'Shea benefitting from some really good moves to ease them ahead before half-time. Patrice Tshmanga, Jamie Stack, and Abimbola Bello all impressed as the Magpies pulled away in the second half, with Patrice's bullet header from a David Williams corner the pick of the goals.
On a sour note, just before the final whistle, centre-half Ian Aher sustained a nasty injury with a dislocated knee-cap which will see him miss much of the rest of the season, marring an excellent performance from he who would be known as Chippy.

League away to Richmond on 20th November
Richmond 2
Midleton 2
Honours even in a game played on a very heavy pitch in thick fog. Midleton played some very good football despite the conditions, and created lots of chances, falling down only with the quality of finishing. Richmond were allowed two very soft goals to earn a draw, despite Midleton dominating for most of the game. James Lawton, Robert Williams, Eanna O'Brien, David Williams and Patrice Tshmanga all played some very good stuff to create openings, and Cian O'Shea and a screamer from Jamie (shoot from anywhere) Stack provided the goals for Midleton in a game they really should have won.

League away to Castlebridge Celtic on 13th November
Castlebridge Celtic 5
Midleton 2
Proving to be consistently inconsistent, Midleton succumbed to defeat in Castlelyons as they were outfought all over the pitch by Castlebridge. Midleton fell to two early goals before coming into the game with a scrambled finish from Cian O'Shea. However, Castlebridge exerted pressure all over the pitch which Midleton could not respond to, and the second half saw the home side pull away for a deserved victory.
Abimbola Bello, Ian Aher and David Williams were the best performers for the Magpies.

League at home to Strand United on 5th November
Midleton 6 Strand United 2

Midleton returned to form against Strand with a performance of strength and quality right from the start. David Williams and Patrice Tshmanga were impressive going forward, creating chances and setting up goals. Jamie Stack starred with two goals, while James Lawton and Ian Aher were very strong at the back. Robert Williams and Sean O'Farrell also impressed with good interplay up front.

League away to Kilreen Celtic on 29th October
Kilreen Celtic 6
Midleton 2
A poor performance from Midleton in dreadful weather conditions saw Kilreen ease to victory. Midleton had chances to push Kilreen closer, but wayward passing combined with poor defending allowed the hosts to score goals too easily.
James Lawton put in a good shift on a day when few impressed for the Magpies.

League away to Blarney United on 2nd October
Blarney United 2
Midleton 3
A closely fought match, Midleton edged a win after falling behind to a deflected Blarney shot. Jamie Stack scored two in reply, one an excellent solo effort, before Arnaud Dumat made sure of the points. Blarney exerted a lot of pressure in the second half, but could not get back on terms.
Ian Aher, Abimbola Bello, James Lawton and Kuvenesh Ramarau starred for Midleton, as well as two-goal Jamie Stack.

League at home to Youghal on 24th September
Midleton 0 Youghal 0

A very tight game finished scoreless as both teams wasted good opportunities to win.
Midleton had the upper hand in the game, and the better chances, but failed to convert. Robert Williams, David Williams and Abimbola Bello all went close, with Cian Haines producing two fines saves to keep Youghal at bay.
