Junior league 1 result
Blarney 1-3 Midleton.
Juniors travelled to Blarney Fri night for their 4th league fixture of the season.Showing some changes from the Youghal game, with Jack at right full for Ross(hols),Lochs in the middle two for Quadri, and a full debut for Ross Desmond,at centre half for Alex(inj). At it from the off,we bossed the game from the middle of the park, our passing game causing Blarney all sorts of problems, with Darragh and Shane causing havoc on the wings, and Charlie and Robin always a threat.Couple of chances fell to Lochs and Robin before we hit the front, when Tristan won his usual 50/50 tackle in the middle, layed the ball off to Charlie, who took two touches, and unleashed an unstoppable drive to the bottom of the net, giving the Blarney keeper no chance. From that kick off,we were nearly in again, with Robin testing the keeper with a fabulous effort, and just before half time,Darragh clipped an unbelievable effort off the inside of the post, with the ball somehow staying out.
Second half saw Blarney change formation and go long,by passing our midfield, which had been totally dominant up to then. They did create some chances, but we dug in,adjusted to it,and tried to hit them on the break. We got our second, slightly against the run of play, when Robin once again tested the keeper, who could only parry the shot, rebound fell to Shane, who slotted home calmly.Brendan and Tom entered the fray, for Lochs and Charlie, and we got a grip on midfield again, reverting to our passing game. Our third arrived shortly after, when Shane played a diagonal pass to Brendan, who took one touch and curled an absolute stunner to the bottom right hand corner.
Quadri and Cian came on for Tristan and Sean, and as we tried to close the game out, however Blarney got a consolation in the last minute of the game, leaving the final score 3-1.
No MOTM,a complete team performance, one full debut,Jack playing only his second full game, four subs off the bench and all made a difference.Three more points on the road.
Away to Wilton next Sun morning,10.45 ko.
